Club Committee

Tommy Morwood

Position: President
Preference race distance: XTERRA / Cross Tri!
Favourite race: Xterra World Champs MAUI

Tommy’s chalked up 150 triathlon finishes over the past 10 years from Sprint through to 70.3, however has made the smart decision never to do an Ironman as he has serious pacing issues. He loves his mountain bike, ocean swims & trail runs. He’s been to ITU World Champs for Olympic (Beijing), Sprint (Auckland) and Xterra (Maui); however he is more well known for being one of the guys who gets beaten by his wife when racing. Tommy is also known in the tri community as a regular race commentator (All Schools, Corporate Tri, F1, Xterra Worlds) and you’ll usually hear him on the mic at our very own Hills series. Tommy was our 2015/2016 club champion, as well as the 2016/2017 Kim Wilson race day award winner. More importantly though, Tommy is father to our clubs youngest ever members, (Bailey 20 months) & Grace (3 weeks).

Matt Edsall

Position: Treasurer
Preference race distance: Olympic and Half Ironman
Favourite Race: Club races as its race your mate and not far from Home.

Mathew has raced all distances in Triathlon from Enticer thru to Ironman. He has been with the club for 10 years and started Triathlons 13 years ago. Prior to triathlon Mat was heavily involved in playing AFL back in Melbourne for his University team Monash and decided to take-up triathlon to improve his fitness for AFL. He realized the sport of Triathlon was more forgiven on the body, hence forcing him to take-up triathlon as his main sport and drop AFL. Since starting Triathlon, Mathew has completed 3 Ironman, more than 20 Half Ironman and raced in the 70.3 world champions back in 2010. Since having children, the focus has changed from long course to Olympic distance to allow for more family time, whilst allowing for the wife to train and race.

Drew Millar

Position: Vice President
Preference race distance: Standard or Sprint
Favourite Race: Hills events (cheap and competitive!)

Drew has been with the club 13 years. Drew has raced enticer through to 70.3. Prior to triathlon he was keen on playing basketball. In 2003 his father died of a heart attack, so Drew decided to do one sprint triathlon & get his heart in the best shape he could. After getting hooked in the sport he has now done over 150 triathlons. Drew has competed at Worlds in the Sprint distance at NZ in 2012 coming 4th. He has also competed at Worlds in 70.3. Drew has been a multiple time winner of our annual club champion award. Drew believes that triathlon needs to be balanced with family & his boys can be seen helping out at most club races.

Karen Tallis (KT, Hollywood)

Position: Vice President
Preference race distance: Long course, Ironman

Karen has been a member of the Hills tri club for 10years. She Started off doing enticers, then in 2009 , decided to do just “one” Ironman race. (Just To tick that box) Well, since then she has completed 6 Ironman’s in 6 years. In 2009 she represented Australia at worlds long course championships in Perth. In 2015 she travelled all the way to Wisconsin to compete in ironman . Although Karen does also sprint distance , and Olympic distance , long course is her favourite distance . Karen has always been a very active club member and racing…. Always with a smile on her face !!

Teresa Falkner

Position: Secretary
Preference race distance: Olympic
Favourite Race: Club Champs

Teresa is relatively new to triathlon, only joining the sport and the Club in 2011. Teresa has always been athletically challenged and is a busy working mum with two little boys, so keeps triathlon as a hobby. As a self-confessed plodder, Teresa is discovering that the longer distance races work for her. Her longest race to date is 73.0 Port where she was all smiles the entire way! A lover of Hills tri club and our own race series, she proudly claimed first place finish in D-Grade for the 2015/16 season. You’ll see Teresa at all our races helping out anywhere and everywhere.

Nichole Edsall

Position: Race Director
Preference race distance: Sprint
Favourite Race: Fiji Triathlon Festival

Nichole has been a member since 2007.  She has competed every triathlon distance possible from Enticer through to Ironman.  Nichole competed at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Florida in 2010, then completed 2 Ironman races – Busselton in 2011 and Cairns in 2012.  After that she had 2 children, therefore focused mainly on Sprint races in between having 2 boys.  She is slowly making a comeback to longer races, which mainly involves team Ironman 70.3 events with hubby.  With 2 young kids and other life commitments the Sprint distance suits her lifestyle the best!
